The Judo is a discipline of the Budo that has stayed stable and vertical from its beginnings and through the years; in its educative and methodological aspect composite, like in its principles and foundations.
This characterization of generational legacy that comes from its founder Shihan Jigoro Kano, must mainly to the frame and the directionality established by the Kodokan, that has acted like main being saver, promoter, and academic normative of the nature of the Judo at world-wide level.
This effective management has not allowed that the Judo atomize in different classes from ñryusî or schools, which had finished with the Judo. Because he is already distortion enough that comes doing with certain principles of the Judo, to take step to the exasperate use of the brute force as we appreciated in the world-wide competitions.
The present Judo, has that tendency to be characterized like wildest the expositive discipline of which the winner is also grossest and by the force that uses. The economic principle to obtain the Maximum efficiency with the minimum effort, is a subject that the modern trainers do not understand nor know to explain it. Because they animate his directed to develop to force and more force; so, Te guruma, the Kata guruma, and the Ura nage, is the techniques prototype of these new gladiators of " neo judo-wrestling ".
The Kano teacher was pedagogical of an extraordinary race, studious, researcher, virtuous a man, of deep thoughts, and in addition a great visionary; because many retailers and experts of marketing they would like to have the quality of futurist focalization that it had, to use it in its investigations of market, their campaigns of publicity, and their strategies of sales.
The Gokyo no Waza, was the instrument that Shihan Kano designed to guide his pedagogy of the Judo; it needed effective, permanent, sequential, and rationally comprehensible a taxonomy, to develop the processes of the Judo.
The human medicine that is one of sophisticated and extraordinary sciences but of the human knowledge, has been modernized, but it has not stopped being science, to be medicine, and to have like center of his operability the human being.
The structure and processes of the medicine have not changed; although much water has happened underneath the bridge, from the times of Hipócrates to our days.
Acupuncture, and the traditional medicine, has not changed either; it is but, the humanity shaken, distressed, and already overwhelmed, has returned his eyes to return to the traditional medicine of his ancestors, to the use of the medicinal plants.
The anatomy, the physiology, pharmacopoeia and the surgery, is the elements of medical science. That there is again or different in all it. The modern cars bring injectors, more valves, greater compression now, that is the technological modernity of the motors, but principle mechanist of gases and the energy has not changed.
Anyway the human body is the same one, its physiology is the same one; there will be new diseases without a doubt, and for it there will be new pharmacopoeia, new processing, new techniques of surgery, new surgical tools.
The principles of the Judo, their foundations, their structure, and certain processes will be always such. Nothing must change in that aspect; what it will be modernized based on yields; it will be the optimization of the techniques, the efficiency of the movements, and the productivity of performance competitive, the quality of nutrition of the athlete, the improvement of his physical conditioning.
The Gokyo no Waza classifies sort of the structure of the Waza of the Judo. That it is ordered or it arranged with a rational criterion of the complexity level of the movement, and the learning of the student or athlete. And not based on the mind of the trainer or the experience acquired of this, who by the way, is different from the one from a teacher or professor of Judo.
The structure is made based on the cognitive sensitivity of the individual, student, or athlete; and relative to the simplicity of and the efficiency of the movements. That they go from simplest to most complex.
If we put ourselves, on the shoes of Shihan Kano, we would realize that he I take on its shoulders, many simultaneous and also alternative tasks that to decide; after to have formed properly; it developed a task of agglutination of several schools of Jujutsu; extracting the best thing of each one of them, and incorporating its own contributions, fruit of its investigations and experience.
Everything which took it to shape in a new school that called Kodokan. To design a new concept of a model of Martial Art, with principles, foundations, properties, nomenclatures, taxonomies, structure and processes, and alignment of objectives; he is something that many would not do it nor in 10 complete lives. Because to develop a model of so exquisite and effective fight as it is it the Judo, in which the ability based on the principle of the economizing of the minimum investment of the effort is used to obtain maximums results; and in the mutual benefit of the training and the progress; it is own only of privileged minds, and very great hearts. The
Dr. Kano had in addition who to prepare themselves, and to teach new forms, new concepts, new philosophy, to men already formed, who came with ample experience in other arts of fight, which was his first students; men of the stature of Saigo, Tomita, Yamashita, Yokoyama. He had to provide a spirit to them and idiosyncrasy common, the one of the Kodokan school, so that she is internalized in them and they felt identified.
Doctor Kano founded the Kodokan when he was only 22 years old, which means that its work of design of its new Judo Kodokan was short, perhaps initiated it when he was 18 years old. That is to say, in 4 or 5 years he did what some we have taken all a life to publish a book of Judo.
He is comprehensible then, that its work continued it developing, because it is in 1895 when the Gokyo Waza is not originated, the Kano teacher was then 35 years old, time in which parallelly developed its race like pedagogy in the Japanese educative system holding diverse positions; that is, 13 years ago the Kodokan had founded. And also it was dedicated to promote and to expand the Judo in the world.
The Gokyo Waza does have four important characteristics within the system of the Judo, and take in account, that stops to call it system to the Judo, has to include, understand, to know, and to demonstrate why it is a system.
1) the Gokyo Waza does stage inside nature that has each one of its 40 wazas based on its phenomenology cause-effect; and based on its effect of action-reaction. That means, that when we taught a technique, there is to teach the nature of the same technique, why, how, why, and when the technique becomes or serves.
2) the Gokyo Waza is structured according to the degree of difficulty of movements, times, angles, distances, displacements, rotations that are required to orchestrate the technique, and of the understanding of the Theory of the Judo and its processes. That they describe wazas in simplicity order to complexity.
3) the Gokyo waza is ordered sequentially in order of learning complexity. So that the student goes step by step acquiring the knowledge and the required skills. With an accumulating effect of experience and knowledge in each technique that is added to its baggage of resources; and that turns it of an inexpert one to office turning.
4) the Gokyo Waza does allow in addition in its taxonomy, a progressive academic sequence, ordered, based on certain attributes gained by the student; which will allow him is gradþando in categories or belts or ranks. According to certain requirements that are articulated with each one of five levels of the model of wazas.
In my educational perspective, I consider that the Gokyo Waza lock up a great ingredient of methodology and pragmatism, which is perfectly combined with the foundations and the theory; specially, when it is used by described people pedagogically, and who know the bio-mechanic. Theory of the Judo and its processes very well modern; then, it will allow to find them in that wonderful classification, many so rich arguments and discoveries, as those that usually are progressively when they study the diligent Katas and.
The Judo locks up many systemic principles in its composition; they are to be discovered, to follow the tracks of the Kano teacher, whom with simplicity and humility, it has bequeathed to world one of but the beautiful and complete sport disciplines that exist in the world.
